Introduction to 'Kingdom Ambassadors'

KINGDOM AMBASSADORS

So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, "Come back to God!"
- 2 Corinthians 5:20

To understand the term ‘kingdom ambassadors’ we must first establish what the kingdom is. A kingdom, with connotations of a grand, prestigious place with high authority is what we understand to be the kingdom of God. A place where the mighty and everlasting God sits, protecting, providing for his creation: the Earth. However, what we fail to understand or simply possibly forget is that His kingdom is in fact here on Earth, and that the people, animals, nature and all He has created is reflection of his glory displayed in the heavenly kingdom. So why do we aim solemnly for only his heavenly kingdom after death, but lose focus when the commandment of God is to radiate the love of his kingdom during our own Earthly lives?

The role of an ambassador is to represent. As believers of Jesus Christ we are not only called to live our own life of goodness, but to encourage the faith of others through our actions and lifestyle, as well as words. Many non- believers contribute to the hardship of being a Christian with the image of ‘perfection’ springing to mind as soon as the word ‘religious’ or ‘Christian’ is said. The pressure to put forward an immaculate insight of all things at all times is something that generates anger from many believers. We are not called by God to be perfect, although we are called to strive forward in purpose, love and commitment to his word. Once we acknowledge this as believers of Christ, we are able to fully take on our role as HIS ambassador. Being an ambassador of the kingdom is cut down to one thing; be intentional about your walk with God. As soon as you take on the decision to pursue God and not sin, you become a chosen son or daughter of God and are giving the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide you in your walk.

We must aim to imitate Christ in all that we do, from his attitude towards outcasts to his complete obedience to his heavenly father at all times. We must endure suffering the way he did, to set the basis of what we believe and therefore what we chose to represent. In 2 Timothy chapter 2, Paul tells us about our role of being a good SOLDIER for Christ. We are taught to rely on God’s grace at all times of battle within our own lives and are instructed to endure in suffering as Jesus remained strong in the missionary process of being the world’s saviour. To be a soldier or ambassador of Christ and his father’s Kingdom we must comprehend that we are specially chosen to represent LOVE on this Earth and to spread the good news. This title of a ‘Kingdom Ambassador’ is a role that Jesus himself has asked you to take on. He has commanded for you to follow his ways and showcase God’s kingdom, not conducting life in a lukewarm manner, but instead to represent a faithful God who creates all and grants all for his people. Be radical for Christ.

The vision of ‘Kingdom Ambassadors’ is a way of encouraging young people whether you are a new believer, mature in the faith or even a non- believer to be BOLD about your beliefs and your religion. This journey will not be the smoothest and in no way will it come with complete ease, but you must understand you have been called upon by God to be the light in all times of darkness. With a modern world of temptation and the enemy’s attacks, the generation of young people to embrace their responsibility of being a kingdom ambassador is needed more than ever. The word of God and the promise of salvation and his Kingdom MUST remain alive, and it is your job to ensure this. The vision of ‘Kingdom Ambassadors’ aims to encourage both males and females to amplify their enthusiasm for their existing faith in Jesus Christ, as well as to reach out to the souls of those God has called and have not yet fully accepted his offer of his kingdom. Do not be selfish about what God has delivered you from, but instead make the effort to share Christ in the same way you have received him. I rest in the thought that through this blog, the Holy Spirit will encourage you to pursue righteousness as Gods own appointed soldier of love. Declare your decision to be Gods ambassador through HIS strength, ability and courage. He adores you, and wants YOU to represent the beauty and glory of his kingdom.

Some scripture to reflect on:

1.      Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19

2.    For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
-       Romans 8:14
3.    “O Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”
The LORD replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the LORD, have spoken!”
-      Jeremiah 1 :6-9
