WHERE
IS YOUR HEART?
FOR WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS, THERE YOUR HEART
WILL BE ALSO
-MATTHEW 6:21
Over the last few days The
Lord has been speaking to me about my heart and the mess that’s going on inside
of it. He began to reveal to me where my heart truly was and suddenly a hierarchy
of importance started to appear with a clearly wrong order. As I was praying, I
saw myself in this white gown type dress (kind of like a maxi dress with baggy
sleeves), and there was just clouds around me and Jesus who was also in a white
robe. I walked towards Him with the intention of kneeling to receive my promised
crown of righteousness, when He stopped me and I looked up confused. He looked
at me as if I knew what He meant, and I immediately gave Him my ‘’heart’’ (it
looked like a cut out shaped heart) into His hands and He smiled. {And yes guys
I did cry for a good 5 minutes after this!}
Where does your heart lay
right now at this minute? Because for a long time, my heart rested in materialistic
items, the attention of a guy, and whole bucket full of other worldly things.
Jesus cries out for us to fully devote our hearts to Him, if we truly love Him.
Often we claim that we ‘LOVE GOD!’ and ‘LIVE FOR JESUS!’ but when it comes down
to a time of decision we instantly choose anything and everything over our
Saviour.
Jesus doesn’t ask for part
of our hearts, but instead insists on our WHOLE hearts. We cannot expect a
yearning for Christ to develop if we limit ourselves to only surrendering part
of lives and not the other. A heart full of clutter with distraction and love
for the wrong things pulls us so far away from the direction of the cross.
Going back to what God showed me during my quiet time, I mentioned that I knelt
with the expectancy of my crown of righteousness. Already, I had got it all
wrong. I expected Jesus to crown me, when my heart was set on this world and
not on His word or His presence. You may also be going through the same thing
too, where you feel that your love for Jesus needs amplifying. Your love for
Him must have no boundaries, and although we could never love Him the same way
He loves us in abundance, we can always try! True love for Jesus will only stem
from an intimate relationship, built through worship, prayer and complete
dependency on Him.
Whilst praying after this
was revealed to me, I began to ask Jesus to do something for me. I asked Him to
keep my heart until HE thought I was ready for marriage, and then give some of
it to my husband. But I told Him that He should keep the bigger bit. I longed
for Jesus to be the owner of my heart, even as I get older and more mature. So
to all the ladies, I know it’s difficult waiting on a Godly man, and this can
sometimes distract us from the true man of our hearts (Jesus) - we must acknowledge
that Christ HAS to be the centre of all things. Pray for a heart that yearns
for Him only, and that your heart will belong to JESUS ALONE.
I encourage you to ask God
for a heart that is revived from darkness, and therefore radiates the light of
Christ’s love. Work and pray for a heart of purity and ask God to hold your
hand as you begin to adjust the focus of your heart to be back on Christ and
not on anything else. We cannot expect the reward of the Kingdom, when the
first thing God asks us to do is to love Him with all our heart, mind, soul and
strength. Whether you have never experienced the love of Jesus, or whether you
feel as if you have drifted from Him and your heart is set on other irrelevant
things, know that your King longs for a heart that is set on HIM. He wants you
to rekindle that fire for Him!
Keep Jesus as your living treasure and never be
afraid for share Him with the world! Your heart is a reflection of you, so make
sure that it’s reflecting CHRIST.
