When I read this I was taken back to
the days of last year when I first started to build my real relationship with
God. When I got frustrated and angry I would turn to other people for comfort,
I would burst out into tears or even take it out on those around me. Although
now I still do some of these things, God has brought me from a place of
allowing my emotions to dictate my situation, to allowing His voice to change
my heart.
In times of confusion, God is there.
When you have the urge to punch someone, God is there. When you feel unworthy,
God is there. God’s throne of grace is open 24/7 and we are instructed to
boldly approach it with full faith.
But what most of us do, is practically
ignore God’s voice calling us to speak to Him and decide to swim in a pool of
overthinking which lets our emotions manipulate us and therefore our decisions.
Imagine if the first thing we did was
turn to God in prayer. A misconception about prayer is that it has to be a
long, intricate, speech to impress others when it doesn’t have to always be. I
encourage you to get into the habit of saying short and honest prayers
throughout the day as well as your longer prayers during your set aside quiet
time with God each day. Take time to step aside from situations and to ask God
for help, guidance, protection and peace to get you through each stage of your
day.
We often hear the phrase ‘put God
first’ but do we really put Him first and take time out to talk to God when it
comes down to it? Instead of getting carried away with a hard time and blaming
everyone around you, walk away and allow God to speak to you. You are His
child! He longs for you to run to Him both when you feel happy and down, so
that His presence is clear in your life and so that He can build you up again
by reviving your spirit with His grace.
The next time you find yourself with
two options of either entertaining the enemies mind games or praying to let God
take control, choose PRAYER. There is nothing like taking a breather and
setting your mind on the love God has for you. Don’t make it your last resort
when everything has already gone horribly wrong, but instead put prayer at the
forefront of your lifestyle and observe how your character develops to become
more Christ-like.
Philippians 4:6-7
Don't worry about anything ; instead pray about everything. Tell God all you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will expericnce God's peace which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
