''I can't see God during the storm''

The storm is raging, where is your focus?

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
{Isaiah 43:2}

The storm is raging. You can’t see God. You’re starting to give up. Constantly praying and asking God where He is. You’ve gotten to the point where your mind doubts and you feel that God has forgotten about you.

Clear your vision. You feel discouraged because you doubt God’s unfailing power to stretch His hand out and rescue you. Trusting God is so much bigger than our emotions or how we’re feeling on a particular day. Because what happens when we trust God and things so as we planned, and the next day we have a horrendous day and you can’t necessarily feel God’s presence surrounding you? Does that mean God has changed? No. When we allow our emotions whether that is anger, anxiety or sadness, to clog up our vision of who our God is, we leave limited room for our faith to be in full force. There is no room for worry and faith, you have to choose one.

You may be in the midst of a storm where you can’t feel God, you can’t see Him working and you feel as if everything is going at a much slower pace than normal. Your job is to literally keep your eyes above the waters. Having a change of mind set and outlook is so essential especially during periods of challenges and struggle. You must learn to look at the cross, not the opinions of man, the lies of the enemy or the frequent pity-parties we love to throw during the storms. Be encouraged by God’s idea of these tests and challenges are put in place to mould you, to purify you and to make you that little bit more like Jesus. Each challenge should develop your faith, so that because you’ve been placed in a situation of complete surrender to God, you become that extra amount aware of just how GREAT He is at rescuing His people. Staying grounded in the Word of God is mandatory during tough and stressful periods, because it is in His word that we find comfort, encouragement and reassurance of God's promises & faithfulness.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is FAITHFUL. {Hebrews 10:23} Our hope should lie in nothing else but Jesus Christ Himself. Hebrews also declares that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. If the power, character and whole existence of Jesus are unchanging, our hope and expectancy in faith should be neither part time nor weary. When our faith is deeply rooted in CHRIST, we are less likely to be shaken because of our understanding of how sovereign God is in all situations. That everlasting hope of the promise of Jesus’ love and presence when we believe sets the foundation of our lives as new creations in Christ. We should never even give room for anxiety or simply mistrust when we can’t see how the storm will calm down and end, when we’ve been reminded by God constantly that He will never fail us and His promises WILL come to pass in His timing.

He who promised is faithful – KNOW your God! Having that intimate relationship with God gives insight into who God is, His heart, and how He personally interacts with you. Faithful does not immediately equate to what we can physically see, but even more so what we spiritually receive from God. There are probably a multitude of blessings that you deem as ‘normal’ and brush past because we’ve become uncomfortable in a sense of just how gracious God is with pouring out His gifts to His children.

How do we change our attitudes during the stormy seasons? We switch our focus from the world, to eternity. It’s not about us anymore, not about what we can do in our own strength or what we want. It’s about trusting God’s leading in your life so that our hearts can be at rest with the faith, knowing that His provision is absolutely flawless. He can see what we can’t, so start praying for blind faith to obey Him and be led by Him during the storm so that you will WALK ON WATER rejoicing because you have been pulled up by a loving God. God has predestined every single step, a solution to every single storm. When you’re in the midst of chaos and you can’t seem to pull yourself out of your negative attitude, remind yourself of the God you serve.

When I feel that I’m in the midst of a storm or challenge, I make an extra effort to consistently confess with my mouth out loud who God is to me and how wonderful He is. Daily renewing of your faith eases the fear during the storm, and puts it all into perspective where you can stand firm and be intentional about focusing on Jesus and not letting  trouble overwhelm you. Take the focus off of you, praise Him in advance for the solution, and live by FAITH knowing that because of your faith in Jesus, God WILL always make a way.

Just some thoughts and words of encouragement I thought I'd share that God has been speaking to me about recently. Trust Him.
