WHO ARE YOU
RUNNING TO?
He replied,
"Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."
- Luke 11:28
Regularly we claim we love God and we praise Him
constantly for His goodness but we refuse to surrender to what He has to tell
us. The selfishness of our hearts
combined with our lack of authentic desire to SEEK God, can often play a large
part in our separation from the instruction of The Father.
Many of us are swallowed up with a trial in our
lives, whether that is in relationships, within family, the overwhelming of
stress or whatever you are personally currently battling. In order for us to truly
understand what God wants us to do or to even give us clear instruction we must
make the effort to speak to Him about the worry and bothered emotions engulfing
our hearts and distancing us from Gods will in our lives. We must learn to
depend on Christ alone and be concerned with what HE has to say first as both
our wonderful counsellor and our PRINCE OF PEACE.
When we simply take the time to speak to Jesus about
something that is angering us or causing distraction in our walk with Christ,
we are forgetting our own plans of mending and filling voids with pointless
things of this world, and we begin to allow the KING to take over with His hand
of righteousness. We want to love God and we want to hear what He has to say,
which can be found in intimate conversation with God. Through prayer and reading
our word we are exhibiting a desire to know what GOD has to say and not just
the knowledge that MAN can provide.
Too often I have been personally been convicted by
the idea that I run all over to different people asking what they think I
should do, what I should say about a certain situation etc. Yes that can be
helpful by allowing the wisdom of your brothers and sisters in Christ to be
used efficiently, however we must not make people our main source of guidance!
Through quiet reflection and prayer before the Lord we begin to recognize His
voice and are able to carry out the tasks He has set forth for us to fulfill.
In Luke 10 Jesus meets the women Martha and Mary.
Majority of us take on the personality of Martha of who is running around doing
all these things for Jesus, but fails to rest and acknowledge the presence of
Him. Is that you? Are you so caught up in serving His Kingdom that you refuse
to sit before Him and ask Him about the things going on in your life? Do not
allow pride to push away from The Father. His hand is always gentle towards you
and constantly welcomes you to learn from Him, but we must accept His daily
invitation to do things HIS WAY. As Martha remains worried and upset about
little things, Jesus tells her that her sister is not wrong in sitting at His
feet and listening to what He has to teach her. Jesus says that Mary has
discovered the one thing worth being concerned about, which is His holy
presence. If we undertake the mission to bask in Jesus’ presence instead of
being worried about what we feel like we need to complete, we can HEAR what He
is instructing us to do over what the world is pressuring us to do. Jesus
encourages us through this scripture to REST OUR HEARTS.
Make the decision to develop that fire for Jesus’
presence through the Holy Spirit. The next time you get frustrated or have a
stressful day, think about WHO you are going to turn to. Don’t even make it an
option to turn to anyone else before GOD. Display your reverence of Him, by
taking the time to sit at the feet of Jesus and talk to Him. Even if you
struggle to do it through prayer, He will still appreciate you just turning to
HIM before anyone else. Do not conform to your own emotions or instincts of
your flesh, but instead take some time out to roll your care onto God and present
Him with your struggle. Be confident in knowing you serve a God who makes all
things right in His time, and who sustains His children through the fires.
Submit your heart and listen to what your saviour has to say. Run to the CROSS.
Some
scripture to meditate on:
This I declare about the LORD: He alone
is my refuge, my place of safety; he
is my God, and I trust him.

Psalm 91:2
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God
is our merciful
Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts
us in all our troubles so that we
can comfort others. When they are troubled,
we will be able to give them the same
comfort God has given us. For the more
we suffer for Christ, the more God will
shower us with his comfort through
Christ.

Thank you for reading. Take some time to come before God about your current battle. Keep in mind His solution is always bold and is suited to develop you in your walk with Christ. ASK HIM FIRST.

This post is so true. I tend to run to others for advice when it should be God I run to. I guess this is another way of God telling me to stop doing that and just come to him directly.
