Late night encouragement - I'M STARTING TO GIVE UP ON MYSELF..

It’s so easy to give up on yourself. It’s easy to choose the life you lived before you accepted Christ than what you have to deal with now. It’s easy to quit on the plan God has for your life. What you may feel to realise is that God doesn’t give up on you. Through the disappointments, how much you break God’s heart through sin, or how far you feel that you’ve gone astray from God, trust that He stays pursuing you. His longing for you to surrender your life and believe in full faith in exchange for His grace by Jesus Christ, is alive and active. You may feel overwhelmed with the demands of life, or you may feel dead in a dry season in your walk with God. But be assured of God’s perseverance with you, despite the troubles of life. { I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.} – John 16:33. Jesus needs you to TRUST Him and His perfect ability to overcome and control all things even when you face obstacles and tend to want to give up.

This Sunday as I was singing ‘One Thing Remains’, the Lord gently reminded me that His love is consistent. His love is not changing depending on my actions and doesn’t waver the same way my faith or obedience can. His love is eternal, it’s everlasting and unfailing. Although I am not worthy of it, He pours His love into me because of His goodness. I have the tendency to give up on myself when I am strayed away from God’s word and that promise that He is with me and equips me with strength to do all things can be snatched away very quickly. I doubt my ability to do things – to meet the demands of my ministry. But as I was worshipping Him, God reminded me about something I always teach on but forgot myself. I don’t do anything in my own strength. I do it all by God’s grace and power alone. I can’t afford to give up on God and what He has commissioned me to do because I’m starting to give up on myself. It’s not even me doing anything; I am simply a vessel for God. So therefore by doubting what God has called me to do, am I ultimately doubting God’s power to make things happen the way He sees fit?  However, God does cares about us as vessels and wants us to feel confident that because He lives within us, we shouldn’t even entertain thoughts of doubt, fear and defeat. {You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.} –1 John 4:4.

Be encouraged by God’s loving pursuit of you. When you begin to feel distraught, know that through your belief and faith in Jesus Christ, you belong to God. You are His. As your Father, He constantly reminds you of His steadfast love for you. But have you beaten yourself up so much that you feel so down that you’ve forgotten that Christ is FOR YOU? God fights for you. He covers you. He does all things by His will and for your good. Why panic or doubt your own ability when you serve the most powerful force in all of heaven and earth? God will never give up on you; endure through the hope and promise that His love for you is the one constant in this crazy world of change.

God lives within you, trust HIS plans -
