Hey guys, first of all
welcome to the Kingdom Ambassadors' blog page. I hope you have been blessed so
far by the posts from my sister Caitlin. As the theme of this month is all
about repentance and #IAmForgiven, it's only right that I encourage those who are
unsure of repentance as well those who do know and need to repent and get right
with God.
So firstly, let's
understand the term repentance. The definition of repentance is to turn around from sin. This is an act
that we all need to do at some stage in our life (a lot sooner than later
though). Many of us are walking towards sin or we are already in sin. We need
to understand that we cannot be bound in sin, that we need to turn it around
before it’s too late.
Well who needs repentance?
The answer to that is YOU. It's you
and I that needs repentance. It is literally a must. If we look at the life of
Jesus, we understand that he spent most of his time around sinners. The bible
records a time when Jesus in fact ate with sinners and tax collectors. The
Pharisees were concerned about this and wondered why Jesus would do such thing.
But Jesus said to them:
"Those who are well have no need
of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to calm the righteous,
but sinners to repentance. - (Luke 5:31-32)"
And that right there is
exactly what Jesus died on the cross for, the sinners. He came to save people
from their sin. You may be wondering well how do you know that I'm a sinner? I
may not be the person Jesus came back for. The bible says "for we have all sinned and
fallen short of the glory of God - (Romans 3:23)" so from this
it's clear that we are in fact the 'sinner' Jesus actually came for. His death
on the cross was the ultimate sacrifice, so that we wouldn't have to face
spiritual death because of our sin.
So why do we need to repent
and turn it around? I mentioned earlier that Christ was the ultimate sacrifice.
Without him, our chances of entering God's kingdom are very slim. Yes mercy is
there but grace is limited. "God
is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap - (Galatians
6:7)" so we can't expect to sow seeds of sin but yet still inherit
the kingdom of God. In Romans 6:23 it says "For the wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Don't let
your sin cost you when Christ died for you free
of charge. Jesus loves you so much, which is why he died for you, so you
may live. Let today be the day of repenting of your sin and truly follow Jesus.
I'll end it here with one of my favourite scriptures of how we need to turn it
around.
"Then Jesus said to them all, “If anyone desires to come
after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me -
(Matthew 16:24)"
