Repentance is a choice that the Father draws us to. It starts
from within.
From the first time you feel
truly remorseful and just ask...you are forgiven, this is stated here “the Lord
has promised, He who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the
Lord, remember them no more” (D&C 58:42).
In order for this to happen
though you truly have to change your mind set because repenting is not just a
onetime thing to make yourself feel better for a short period of time;
repenting truly starts with a change of mind, it goes way beyond your feelings
at that given time. Your mind set and attitude must change, with a sincere
desire to be obedient to Him.
The majority of sins begin with
one or more of the five senses, which then enter our thought life, as stated in
proverbs 23.7 “so a man thinketh so he becomes”. Your thought life is so
sacred, and in there grows the seed to understanding to the word. This change
of mind set will help you to be in a continued state of repentance, this is a
lifestyle choice where you continuously seek Him, in all aspects of your life,
motivated by a genuine desire to please your Maker.
One of the main important things
you must do is be real and honest with yourself and your God, He already knows
your downfalls anyway. You yourself must fully acknowledge whatever it is that
is placing a negative weight on your life. You literally have to come humbly,
honestly and remorseful with no layers before God and show Him you are ready to
begin your state of repentance.
God is always ready and waiting
for us, He’s the perfect gentleman. We are human beings and make errors daily
but it’s that heartfelt obedient mind-set that He longs for, please don’t ever
think you are not worthy of such forgiveness, I hope this scripture gives you
some comfort in knowing this, Acts 11.18 says “When they heard this, they had
no further objections and praised God, saying, So then, even to Gentiles God
has granted repentance that leads to life.”
If you’ve read the book of Luke
18:10.14, this tells the story of the tax collector who asked for mercy and
admitted that he was a sinner, ‘For everyone who exalts himself will be
humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.’
If you feel far away from God
repenting could be one of the first steps you may need to take, in the book of
John 4:7-8 explains that if we draw close to God, He draws close to us. You and
only you can make that choice though and make that first step.
Make your heart more tender to
God by letting go of the burdens you may have placed on your being, you can’t
be free from something you haven’t put out of your life. This is the time to go
before God and empty yourself.
So let’s do this guys.
Wonderful teaching
