Set apart for the Father
The bible constantly mentions the fact that you have been
chosen specifically by Him as his own possession.
He has chosen you to be set apart from the rest of the world
and to live a radical lifestyle for Him. Have a look at 1 Peter 2:9 where it
goes on to explain how we are a chosen generation and God’s special possession,
how amazing is this privilege you have that God has chosen you to represent
Him! The last part of this scripture says ‘that you may declare the praises of
him who called you out of darkness into HIS wonderful light’! It’s that
exhilarating feeling of finally knowing God for yourself and coming into His
light, His word, His mercy; is exactly how He wants you to constantly feel. The
only way you can truly experience this is by reading the word and understanding
what it means to be set apart.
As children in Christ, we are in the world but not part of
the world. We are called to be separate from the worlds systems and thought
processes, renewing our mind to His word, keeping Christ at the centre of
everything we do. When we give our lives to Christ and turn away from sin, we
are automatically attuning our focus to the word of God, and in time making you
lose interest of the worldly things. That is what it means to be set
apart.
Ask yourself what are you paying the most attention to? What
has got your main focus? How much time are you spending in prayer? How do you
study the word? What are you doing to create an intimate relationship with God?
Most importantly what is the first thing you reach for in the morning and
before you go to bed, your phone or your bible?
You must actively, consistently and happily conform your
mind to Jesus Christ; doing so will enable you to become a light in other
people’s lives, believers as well as non-believers alike. There are so many
people in spiritual darkness and unawareness that by you being a light
yourself, may ignite their own and so on.
Move righteously in the Lord and others will see that there
is something incredibly different about you, look at the fruits of the Holy
Spirit and exhibit these into your lifestyle. Remember you are part of a royal
priesthood and legacy, dare to be different and stand out from the ordinary.
Jesus didn’t die for you to live an average lifestyle!
It’s not to say that you shouldn’t enjoy the world that God
made for us, it is beautiful, so much diversity and culture, just the way He
wanted it. Being set apart from the world doesn’t mean you can’t have fun and
enjoy. Enjoy your time on earth, do what makes you happy but just do not be
consumed by things that do not glorify your God, at the end of the day this is
all temporary.
Let’s do this guys!
