Doing it for God
That’s why my cup is running over.
This is the assigned moment for Him to move into the center, while I slip off
to the side lines.
John 3:30
When I heard
this verse at Bible study on Thursday, it spoke to me on an unexplainable
level. It instantly reminded me of WHO I blog for. Sometimes our own selfish
visions can cloud up our humility God asks of us, so that we are truly able to
accomplish what HE has for us to do. Self-righteousness can so easily develop
when we place our hope in the approval of other people; even if it’s not to do
with ministry or blogging, we’ve all looked for someone else’s approval of what
we are doing. So ask yourself – Can you do anything to make the one living God’s
name more known instead of your own?
1. Praying for all self-righteousness to
be removed – Prayer is your biggest weapon! ( alongside the word of God) When
we make the effort to recognize what might be distracting us from our walk with
Christ, it’s easier to ask God for a change of heart that only He can do. Acknowledge
that you are specifically set apart for His glory, with the emphasis being on
HIS glory. Not your own boastfulness, or pride which can stray us away from
what God has for us, but instead servant hearts that let God know each day ‘’Anything
for you Father.’’
2. Seek the Kingdom of God, not fame or
authority – With anything we do, we have to examine our motives. In Matthew 6,
Jesus instructs us to not worry about small things that are meaningless – ‘Seek
the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you
everything you need.’
3. Knowing that it is not YOU! – I’m a
firm believer in this one! I know that whenever I minister to someone, whether
that is through my blog, personal calls, or email, that it is not me talking,
but instead the Holy Spirit talking through me. Matthew 10:20 ‘For it is not
you who will be speaking, it will be the spirit of your Father speaking through
you’ – not only does God take care of everything for you so we shouldn’t step
out into this world in fear of what to say, but He reminds you that whatever
you say is not through your own ability to speak; but rather that God works
through us as vessels for His Kingdom.
4. Humbling yourself and doing
everything ‘unto the Lord’ – Make sure that whatever your choose to do with
regards to your purpose that you are constantly remaining humble before God,
asking for wisdom and telling Him you need His intervention each step of the
way. Aim to bring glory to His name in everything you do, so that people will
see you, and experience the love of God.
Prayer
Lord, I thank you for who you are and the purpose that you
have specially assigned to my life. I pray that I will remember who it is that
I serve, and that you will give me the strength to put you at the center of all
I do. Father help me to humble myself daily before you, knowing that in whatever
I do ; I must do it unto The Lord and not just unto man. I hope that I will
bring glory to your name in all areas of my life, whether that is in ministry,
work, school and at home. Help my heart to look more like yours, so that I may
be able to show people the reality of the Kingdom of God and how good you are
to all of us. Jesus, your love is unfailing and your instruction and voice that
speaks through us is never wrong. Thank you for constantly giving me strength
to do your will. May my any ministry I am involved in be all of you, and none
of me.
In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
